I have a bike. It's my favorite bike. My last trip back to ABQ I got a ton of time on it. It's name is "Stumpy" aka Frankenbike. I bought Stumpy back in 2000 when I was working at Adventure Cycle and Ski in Winona, MN.  It's a Stumpjumper Pro, M4 technology.  Hence, the name Stumpy. Disc Brakes, well, they had come out, it was still more cool to have rim brakes.  Stumpy had rim brakes, with the option of adding disc brakes.  Stumpy came with XTR, which I quickly switched to SRAM Grip Shifts.  I

May be something I know about. I once read, in some sort of coaching manual, to discourage people from going out when it's less than 50 degrees.  This was a theory based on road riding, combined with windchill. Hell, most of us will be in shorts and short sleeves when it's 50 degrees, especially in racing conditions. So what is a threshold for cold? Most of it has to do with the gear that you own, or what you can afford to buy, and even how much you like riding your bike. Me, I love

Photographs of Zoefitness Camps and Clinics. I get so darn excited and I am so happy to be hosting camps and clinics, I forget to take pictures of the group!  No more!!  I promise to do better from this day forward.  Kinda hard to believe, I forget to take pictures?!?!  I guess, that is the proof of how excited and nervous I get!!  :) October 12th was the First Annual Zoefitness Marathon and Ultra-Endurance Mountain Bike Clinic at Northshore Trails, Dallas, Texas. It was a perfect day, with perfect participants.  Somehow through magical

When I do stupid stuff, I like to make sure it's REALLY, REALLY stupid! Not just kind of stupid. It's taken me almost 2 weeks to blog about it: The Strava Ride:  Will have to BLOG about that one. Ugh. Here goes. I have been training long, I wanted to have my base at 5 hours before I left Albuquerque, and since I was unable to, I have been bringing it up in Winona. My last week's long ride went great; 41 Miles, 4 Hours Rolling time; 4:30 with lunch breaks, and over 3200 feet of climbing.       it

The most interesting of journey's. This must mark the 1st EVER time I was in NM and didn't have something specific to train for. Just to have fun, work out a little bit, entertain, and what we called "The List". One of the main goals of this trip was to figure out why Pepe had been lame for almost a year.  It turns out he had to have his Superficial Digitorum Flexor Tendon re-attached. We also had to fix a slab leak, which we decided to replace all of the plumbing and put it

Crossfit is a brand, just like Nike is a brand. Crossfit is the fastest growing fitness movement available, and because it is a fairly new phenomena, there is not much data available looking at rate of injury, types of injury, and overall safety. Like many fitness certifications to become a Crossfit instructor requires a 2 day certification.  I see one consistent problem with 2 day certifications; it does not give any one person expertise in the field.  It gives minimal anatomy and physiology knowledge, and skeleton guidelines in safety.  Is it possible

I got to the turnaround in 4:14. Oh, I definitely made the cut-off to finish the whole thing. If I had to guesstimate I would have probably come in at about 7:45, or in between 715 and then. I knew I had 1 to 2 hours in me, I did not feel I had 3-4 hours in me. I wanted to feel good my 1st week in Albuquerque, I wanted to get the dogs before the Doggie Day Care closed. I wanted to ride long, I wanted to see the Rocky Mountains, I wanted to say 'hi' to
