May 2013

American College of Sports Medicine 2013. Indianapolis, Indiana It's already Thursday, and I have learned so much. It has been a great week. Finally, Princess of Atlantis has returned. I got to swim at IUPUI Natatorium. I didn't realize it was such a big deal until, I went. They are having National Championships and the World Championship Trials there in a couple of weeks.   It's the #1 Pool to visit for a swim meet: It's rated one of the fastest pools in the country, home of 88 National Records and about a dozen World Championships. I wasn't too fast.  It's

It's an assumption that when you live at altitude, you should, and will,  perform better at sea level. That's not always the case. When I come down, I am lethargic, slow, my get up and go, has stayed at altitude. It has always been that way. Then, the studies show, that it takes about 14 days to acclimate: Not me, it takes a year. When I come down the only place I show speed, is the pool; running and biking. argh, can't even fake it. Then, the latest studies say, "Live High, Train Low".  That is to

Sabbatical is done. 2 years living in my favorite place in the world.  Our retirement home, or vacation home, or apartment, town home, whatever you want to call it. It has been really good to me. Ken got promoted in December with Fastenal, the greatest company in the whole world. They have taken such great care of us over the years.  And Ken has taken such good care of me and our family over the years.  He is the best, he is the reason, I  am able to give back so many of the

Going into the weekend I was like, 'Am I going to race, am I not going to race?' Am I going to race, am I not going to race? Pre Rode the course on Thursday, Fun Course! Oak Flats. I really wanted to race. I don't have much time left in ABQ, while I live here, until retirement and vacations.  Which don't worry, will be a lot. I really want to get my name out there, to be present, as much as I am able. Plus a good race would be good for my taper. But not a 3

I have never blogged specifically how my chemical exposure from a Nat Gas Rig has directly effected my training and racing .  I hold no regrets, I don't let it bring me down.  It doesn't matter what you're given, you just have to deal with it, or make yourself miserable.  I was miserable long enough when I was sick all the time, even in my home.  Now I am just happy. While I was still living in North Texas, I could no longer ride my bike or run from my house.

I am really excited to be printing out an  ATP(Annual Training Plan) for 2014. Now, that is what I  call commitment. I am so excited to part of Rich Szecsy's 4th year of training and racing! It's going to be an absolutely frickin' awesome year Rich, absolutely! And like every year, we are going to push you to new limits, and find you a new pain threshold.  As well, as get you places, you never thought imaginable. And, of course, I mean this in only the most sincere and respectful way; with gentleness and kindness
