Why is the Paleo Diet Considered an Ergogenic Aid for Athletes?
1) Branch Chain Amino Acids (BCAA's): The diet is high in animal protein and therefore high in: valine, leucine, and isoleucine. BCAA's are essential in building and repairing muscles. It's best to consume these in the 'post exercise' window. 2) Blood Acidity vs Blood Alkalinity: Along with the stimulation of muscle protein, the Paleo Diet prevents muscle protein breakdown because it produces a net metabolic alkalosis. The American Diet is net acid producing because of high consumption of grains, , cheeses and salty processed fruits instead of base producing fruits and
I am just going to have to swallow my pride
And Start carrying a camelbak. I was super tired today on the bike. I rode, 1.5 hours plus. I was supposed to do the TT yesterday. When the hardwood floors were swishing, I thought, well maybe, I should take care of the A/C. I was up all night soaking up water, experimenting with what was wrong. As usual, I waited all day for someone to come over. Today I cried to my Momma, and had to go into the small ring, on more than one occasion. Beats where I was after Leadville 26.2. Friday I was out at

My greatest Dilemma
I am having the most difficult time: I can't decide; Is it greener, to use Green Bags at the grocery store and use plastic bags(when available made from recycled materials) in the kitchen trash can OR Use paper bags made of 100% recycled paper and then, use those in the kitchen trash can? Sometimes I can be a complete idiot. Saturday I felt like total do-do. Felt like I had a fever, felt like I was holding vomit back. I thought it was gluten toxicity. When I have gluten toxicity I feel like I have a
I love the rollers!
Today I did the ol' switch-a-roo. There's a TT on Saturday and I traded my 1 hour run for a bike ride, essential. Saturday marks my 2 week completion of the grueling 26.2 which is more than a marathon, it's a time equivalent to an ultra marathon. Remember back in November with the Wild Hare 50k in 5:56; that's 31 miles in an hour less than it took me to run 26.2. I have been very tired. Today marks the 3rd bike ride. Bike rides in synopsis: 1st ride: 15 miles average 13 mph 2nd
Hydration
Hydration: Race Day: The day before drink enough water so your urine is the light yellow. It should be light enough to read a paper through. This is roughly 100 ounces for men and 72 ounces of water. This is true every day, not just the day prior to a big race. Pre Race: Drink 12-16 ounces of fluid 2 hours before your race. This gives your kidneys enough time for one last trip to the port-o-potties. If you exercise first thing in the morning drink at least 8 ounces 15 minutes before you
Moving Forward from Here
I have been busy with Charger Aquatics Masters. I am surrounded by 60-70 year old medal winners. I am not sure why Coach Christine chooses to torture me. Friday I had to do 8 x 50 1 arm free; breath on the opposite side. Today she made me do 3 arm/7 kick switch free drill with a snorkel. She is so mean. Today I found out we are swimming meters. I thought it was yards. So I swam a 2000 meter. 200 swim 200 kick 200 pull 8 x 50 3 x 7 switch. 8 x 100 on 2:00 (number
