Sunday 3 hours and 12 minutes Run

It takes me a day or so to get it together after a big long run like Sunday.  It’s not quite the same as biking, or at least not yet.  It seems to take a little more time, maybe it’s the Sunday night soccer practice, it’s just tougher to get the energy to put something down.  I feel, like I have to “soak” it all in.  I hired the babysitter, started at 7 AM I ran my back pack up to my favorite fire hydrant, ran Rolling Acres, and then, ran Jeter Loop.  I proceeded to run Jeter Loop two more times.  It was a good run.  Part of my running uniform is having two feathers in my hair like an American Indian.  I managed 17 miles, maybe a little more.  I think, when someone is doing my bottle refills, I will manage a 10 minute mile, no problem.

I ran my 3:12 on the road in my Mizuno Wave Universe 3’s.  They held out fantastically.  I have to get a new pair.  They rock.  I would have never imagined in my wildest dreams that I could wear a track shoe on a 3 hour run.  Not to mention last week 2:52 at Twin Coves Park.

Saturday I did my bike ride, it was really fun, I took Alyssa over to my favorite local hill.  She did great.  5 repeats, and 3 hill climb runs.  Mimicking Xterra.  I did a few, spin ups, I knew I had to save it for Sunday.

Everybody is sick around the house, I don’t think my build is going to help my immune system much.  I can already tell my throat is sore.  That’s what the monkey’s first symptoms was, and the second monkey’s, so I’m going to pray for the best.  I thought for sure we were past the “petridish” phase, but I guess not.  Funny, school has been in two weeks and the monkeys have already brought something home.

I took today off.  It feels good, not from work, just from exercise.  That was a good thing.  So good, I can hardly wait to swim tomorrow.  It’s going to feel so good.  Soft on the joints.  I hope I can make it before the pool closes.  I am planning on doing a long pull with my drag suit on.  I love my drag suit.  It’s the suit I have had for 10 years, since I was pregnant with the first monkey.  It’s hilarious when it’s wet, it hangs down to my knees.  It must look weird to onlookers, that’s for sure.  Of course, I wear another regular suit.  It still looks ridiculous.  I’m sure.

The jaw is doing it’s own thing lately.  Friday I was in so much pain, an 8-9 on a 10 point scale.  Went to fill my Rx, and by the time we left Target, I didn’t even take it.  I go to see a surgeon, down at Big Baylor on September 28th.  I can hardly wait.  It was  a referral from a client of mine.  Dr Wolford, or something similar.  He says he’s nationally recognized, and possibly internationally.  The same day I have my appointment, the appointment after me, is from Arkansas, and the next day he’s going to present at the National Oral Surgery Convention.  So hopefully, I’ll get where I want to be in that department.  Like I told Dr Hunter, if you want to see what my cartilage looks like lets take an MRI.  He didn’t quite agree with me, Eve at Dr Wolford’s said, “we’ll need to see your MRI before we get started”  HA!

Gotta be careful about our choices in our medical care.  If I didn’t know about the human body, and what things look at what, I may have believed Dr Hunter.  You gotta remember this is the same guy that forgot to tell me he took almost .5 inches out and didn’t tell me.  This is the same guy who called me into his office and told me he had the same piece of equipment that the orthodontist did, but never used it.  I think, if he had used it the first time around, he would have known the condition of my jaw before he operated.  We have to be careful.

My run was very peaceful and fun.  It was easy, until the last 15 minutes.  It’s a very  hilly course.  I ran at a 3-4 RPE towards the end I did get up to a 7-8.  That last climb was pretty tough.  Then, I came back to my favorite fire hydrant, which is not my favorite fire hydrant anymore because someone stole my red Terra Firma Back Pack.  I can’t believe it.  All that was in it: a half gallon water thermos, 2 empty 8 ounce fuel belt containers, and an extra sweaty, heavily loaded with perspiration t-shirt.  Can you believe, someone would take something, and something like that?!  It’s crazy, so totally crazy, I have a tough time understanding that someone would take something, do something so mean, I think, it’s just mean, and low.

I’m outta here, I’ve got movies to watch.  We’re watching “Back up Plan” it’s crazy to watch a movie with the name Zoe in it.
