Great Week!! Disclaimer: You Can’t Hold Anything Against Me because It’s Past my Bedtime.
This week was an absolute great week. A lot of different things happened.
I had to learn how to deal without riding or swimming. That is always an interesting dynamic.
I even explained to Rey about learning to love road cycling: sometimes we have to learn how to love what we hate because sometimes the things that we love are taken away from us. We have to learn how to channel that passion for mountain biking into another avenue. And I’m so proud, he went out and had a great road ride.
Find the passion, in everything that you do.
I had to find the passion in my run. Now I love running. Friday Therapy: 100 minute run. I’m guessing 10 miles off road, steep terrain. You’re right it wasn’t biking, buy I made it my own.
Rey did a great job out at Comfort, 14th place. Insert shaking head here. Some things went down, that we are going to address. Things that were uncalled for in the game of race, even for non teammates. He overcame some things, like having to stop after having his skewer knocked loose. He did great. He burned a lot of matches. More than he’s ever burned before. Different ways, ways that don’t show up in results but things that were learned, that we will put in to more training in the future.
Teammate Greg Hammer was out there today, found out he was racing this morning. What a trooper. Top 20. Great Job, can’t wait to hear that story! It’s usually a good one, involving a bent derailleur, or something else equally exciting.
Justin is cranking right along. Him and his wife are now the proud owners of a travel trailer. They’re going to save millions in hotel rooms! Justin’s Annual Training Plan is coming together quite nice: Cascade 100, Leadville 100, Marathon Nationals. His first race is this weekend. It should be fun. I sat in front of the computer for 10 minutes before I could find the right interval workout for him to do. It actually involved writing a new one, just for him. I’m sure Tuesday night he will be feeling extra special. 🙂
I’ve been slowly working on a new athlete’s Annual Training Plan, Kyle Martinez. I can’t wait to balance that schedule and watch him win. It generally takes about 4 weeks before I feel like I can truly plan a week for someone. Especially someone who trains and races as much as he does. For friends it’s not as tough, because I know what they’re doing, well, cause generally we’re training together. That guy sure does love to ride his bike.
Tiffany has found a new passion and strength for Bikram Yoga. Unbeknownst to her tomorrow I will be finding her a few 50 milers to do. She wants to ride Hotter than Hell. You know what I say, why wait.
Mike is working diligently on his 100 ups. I love it. After a month of sharing the video, I somehow got him to start. His responses:
1) That’s harder than I thought it was going to be.
2) You’re determined to make me a better runner.
Hell, yes!
Phil, Phil is new on the repertoire of Zoefitness coaching. Leadville Belt Buckle is in his future. He’s already more than half way there and it’s not even March, yet. Now that’s some good work. At the end of March he’ll be shining up in Arkansas for one of my Bucket List rides, the Ouchita Challenge.
Winegar is plodding along. Disappointed he wasn’t able to race in his pilgrimage race this year, the 24 hours of Old Pueblo. He gets 1st place at being a Dad. It’s probably best he had to jump on a plane to come home to his kids, which one or two of them were in the hospital at the time. Those 24 hours of Old Pueblo Folks wouldn’t have known what hit the course. It’s better if we save that for another year. Allow themselves some time to brace themselves. I’m excited to do his Training Plan specific for the Growler up in Gunnison. The 5 mile wind sprint…he’s going to love that. Did I just let the cat out of the bag on that one?
I began working on my Annual Training Plan. I’ve already had my races picked out for some time.
My “A” race is the 50 mile run in Leadville in July.
I have Dawn to Dusk in April: 12 hour on very large geared SS,
Swimming Alactrez in May
Silver Man in September…and anything else that suits my fancy on the way.
I guess, since it’s already March I better get my rear in gear and put my money where my mouth is. I’m pretty sure by the end of this year, I will be ready for that Full Ironman in 2013!!
