This is the hardest race I have ever done! And Every ONE should participate in it at some point in their training. I had a great night sleep and woke up at 5 AM.  The day began with heating up my cappuccino, 4 eggs, .25 cups of brown rice grits with honey and raisins and .25 cantalope.  Everything went smoothly for an 8 am start. The first lap was supposed to be 11.5 miles.  I was estimating that I would be able to do 7 mph for the 50 miles.  I came

Mission Statement: To combine scientific research, education and practical applications of sports medicine and exercise science to enhance performance, personal fitness, health and increase the overall quality of life to individuals. I think, it's more about making life better in your sport and in your daily activities of life, short term and more important long term. My coaching philosophy is really:  It's not about being fast, it's about getting faster.  It's about taking a whole/or holistic view of my athletes and understanding their lifestyles, how they train, what their goals are and

I'm really looking forward to racing the El Paso Puzzler this weekend.  Roughly 7000 feet of climbing in 50 miles.  Nothing I can't handle.  Hell, I've done 3000 feet in 7 miles on more than 2 occasions.  I actually feel pretty darn good.  The thing that really has me down right now is no laptop.  I generally work more, but without taking out family time.  Work at swimming, work at work, work watching a movie.  Without the laptop, I am confined in my, what 8 x 6 cubicle I call

I've been binging on sugar and GF flour for 2.5 days now.  I can hardly move, I have so much inflammation in my joints and muscles I'm so stiff I can hardly stand it. I used to eat this way all the time, never felt a thing, doesn't mean the inflammation wasn't there, I was just less aware of the outcome of eating it. Gotta get off the sauce!

The Excrutiation Exam was on Saturday.  It was so cold, colder than I have ever camped before; sub 30 degrees.  It didn't phase me too much, I had all my cold weather Minnesota gear.  It took a lot of clothes but I was pretty comfortable.   I wasn't feeling all that great going into it.  I had the week off when we were in Florida.  When I came back on the bike, I felt like I had lost quite a bit of fitness and only had a few days to get

Merry Christmas, Happy Winter Solctice, and all that comes along with the season.  I've been gone.  At first, I was busy trying to get my website launched, and then I was busy in Fort Myers and Sanibel Island, Florida; visiting the monkeys Great Grandma and collecting shells, and beach running.  I didn't get what I needed into my site in time, will do after this, and I had a fabulous time with the family in Florida. I'm sitting here sipping coffee, and mentally making the list that keeps getting longer and

Miracles can happen at any moment, when we least expect it.  It's important just to be open to them and they will happen, and the best part is you'll be more aware and you'll experience more and more miracles.  Sunday headed out for my 6 hour tempo ride I'm headed over to that other gym to meet up with a group and low and behold there's a white male deer.  He must have had 8 points on his antlers.  It was amazing. I apologize to any body who came to that
