1.28.2011 Friday, it was 76 degrees.  And it made it wonderful to do my therapy ride in.  It was very good therapy.  The Hilliard Site is down, so I didn't need to worry about any kind of sulfur, all I had to do was ride.  I wanted to push my limits.  I wanted to see where I could go. I hadn't been there in a long time so I didn't know what would happen. Fart

“Functional fitness” has been defined as having the physical capacity to perform activities of daily living in a safe and independent manner without undue fatigue. Unstable surface training has been found to be suboptimal for increasing strength. Results showed that training on the unstable surface resulted in a 44% reduction in muscle activity and a 70% decrease in force output compared to the same activities performed on the stable surface. After 10 weeks, the stable surface group, of elite athletes, displayed greater performance improvements in all measures studied compared to the unstable surface group,

Thanks to everyone who was super nice and called out passing.  I really needed that yesterday.  It was tough being out there.  It was really tough when all that hard soil turned to mush.  And I kept thinking, 'my jaw surgeon wouldn't be too happy about this'. 4 weeks post total jaw reconstructive surgery.  I have to say, today I feel pretty darn good. I walked the two rock gardens, the Flinstones, I began riding Fred's but continued to walk Barney's.  I didn't go through the slot, and a couple of times

And that's exactly what I have had to do for Saturday. That's what I had to remind my ol' man yesterday while he was on the golf course.  It's not about winning or losing it's about playing the game, and having fun. I don't want to give up on my goals.  I have to let go of the idea that I will be any good, and just have fun, and ride for a long time; 3 x longer than I have in months. (shake of head) It's important to set aside one goal to

Going out on the open road, when everybody else is sleeping, or snuggling. 38 with drizzle. I had the whole road to myself. I did feather my brakes on some descents.  That would make my jaw surgeon very happy. Yesterday 2 hours at NS most of the EZ side and some of the "HARD" side. It was awesome. Nothing like "crash programming". I'm far from ready for Solavaca Ranch. I am ready to suffer!

Yesterday ran 34 minutes at the back of Twin Coves.  No, I'm not that crazy.  I ran the road to the main trail head, then, in.  On the way back out I hit the side on the lake,  the road, and then, slowed it down on a couple of hills because I felt my intensity going above recovery. Wednesday 1:30 on the bike, new route, seemed bueno.  Although, Copper Canyon, I didn't know it, is under a whole lotta construction that led to some sort of CX practice. Had to bail onto

I am back on top. OK, not really. But I did swim a 1750 today and it didn't feel like I was dying. I love that. Dying to ride, everything is closed, dammit.  On the road, from the house, I don't think I can handle it.  I may have to try or ride the rollers tomorrow. Run, I'm not sure I'm ready based on the pain I am having.  I think, I am ready for a walk/jog hike with the tail waggerZ

Please make sure you're getting enough protein. To calculate your protein requirements take your body weight in pounds and convert it to kg by dividing the number by 2.2. Then multiply your weight in kg by .8 and 1.2. That will give you the minimum range of protein your body requires on a daily basis. I, then, like to have clients divide that number by 3 so it's easier to calculate how much protein is need per meal. Although we should be eating 5 times per day. For ultra endurance athletes it is not

and all I wanted to do was crawl into bed.  I did, as soon as I got home from my Larry North Meeting. All of my free time was used to go to the oral surgeon's.  BTW, I used Dr Larry Wolford.  I have heard he is the best in the country, and possibly the world.  It's still rough though.  My bite is aligned, which is awesome, I am still in a considerable amount of pain. I can not wait to eat food.  I'm starving all the time.  I guess, it's time
