It’s Going to Be a Good Day
I'm going some where new to ride my bike = adventure. I raced there once a very long time ago. I can't take a shower in my home
Today I Caught Myself Wondering
If we are becoming a Nation of Mediocrity. I believe we may be. Not sure why at the end of my swim workout, I would have this thought come into my head. It may have had something to do with the life guard getting off the stand, and putting the Pool Closed sign up when there was still about 5 minutes left on the clock. And out the door at 8:59 leaving me to gather my things without supervision. I have had hard workouts before, when I've been loading up my gear, and nearly

Top Of Columbine to Winona, Minnesota in 47 Hours Flat
I am seriously a glutton for punishment. There is something about 12 hour races and moving that has become my forte. Dawn to Dusk, 2 days later movers. Leadville 100. My stopover between Albuquerque, New Mexico and Winona, Minnesota. The Townhouse is ready, the car is loaded and I am off to Leadville. I race Leadville, pick up my schwag, hug Ken and Merilee and I am off to Minnesota. I did have a nice stop over in Des Moines. I get off on 43 and the truck dies. No Shit. I coast over to the shoulder, and I am
Sweat Shirt Time 10:51 and Some Change
Please take the time to participate in the poll near the bottom of my post. I'm taking it. Results page shows a 10:54. After I had been across the line for a few moments, someone said, 'Good Job, sub 11' and 10:54 was the time on the clock when I looked, so who knows. I am going with sweatshirt time, because there is nothing more permanent than that. Everything was perfect going into the race. The week before, even in the midst of my final departure from ABQ, every thing was smooth. No pre race pneumonia. Training
Exercising In the Heat
With Temperatures s in Dallas, Texas , and around the country, right now between 100 and 105 we have something even more serious to think about; Heat Indexes between 105 and 107 degrees and Heat Related Illness. Although a common myth about losing weight in the summer is the old adage; "Just Sweat it Out", this is not only untrue, it can have negative health implications. It is true, that we do lose weight while exercising in the extreme heat, it's water weight, and with the human body, being made up of between
The Best Way to Face Your Fears
Is to conquer them. Went out today to ride the foothills. It's all about fast right now, and not getting hurt. I felt good, I was effortlessly floating, it was easy. I did a full lap, not to the Water Tank, Sub 1 hour. The Mountains were growling, thunder, so what did I do? Another lap; a TT lap. Another PR. Or at least tied with a PR, but this one came an hour into it. I realized while I was out there, just ride, the storm is coming, and I am safe. Even if I get struck by lightening, it's doing what I
My Biggest Competition
Is always myself. My goal for Leadville, 10:40. I want to take an hour off of my time from 2008. It's a hefty goal, but I think, it's doable. But you never, ever know, what will happen on race day! I won't put all of my eggs in one basket, because, like I tell my athletes, this is an extrinsic goal, something that I don't have any control over. I have control over my training, to a degree my mechanics, but you never know, how the weather will impact you, flat tires, crashes,
