Tip for Today: Combating the Heat.
Tip for the Day: To combat these hotter temperatures there's a few things you can do to help. Take a Fuel Belt bottle, or something similar, fill it with water and put it in freezer. You can either put the frozen bottle in your jersey pocket or athletic bra. If you're choosing to wear a Camel Bak or other hydration back pack you can fill 1/3 full of water and freeze. Then, before you ride fill the remainder of the bladder with water. Drinking cold water helps lower body temperature. So if you're running
June 28th 2012: La Luz Trail Run
I love a challenge. La Luz Trail Between 8 and 9 miles, this source says about 8 and with 3,775 ft (1,151 m) of elevation gain and a grade of 12%. That would be 16 miles and 7400 feet of elevation change = more than Leadville 50 Miler. Leadville 50 Mile Run Peak: They Say the 50 Mile Run is Easier than the Marathon
Peak____Complete. One way is to do a 50k as part of the training. That is what I thought would be the best way for me to peel the banana going into it, but what I learned, and have known for some time, training and building is solely dependent on how your body adapts to the stimulus. I haven't blogged in awhile. As if I haven't had anything to say. You're right, hard to imagine. 1:50 to the top of KOM, my slowest time, I'm sure since 1995. I want to remember that time. I'm going
How to Balance Family with Training
Balance: one of the most difficult parts of having a family and being an athlete. My children are a little older now, 10 and 12 and they are responsible enough to be at the house alone for a couple of hours while I go take care of myself. While I was juggling; coaching, training, motherhood, I had to remain flexible in my mind set. I always, always set a schedule. This is probably the most important part of balance, time management. I print out a weekly calendar, scheduled all my obligations
