The Rules
Rule #1: Have Fun. Sometimes Rule #1 evolves. It's important to have the flexibility and the mindset to be accepting of whatever Rule#1 transforms itself into. Sometimes Rule#1 is: Don't blow up your leg. And then, recognizing we have the power to be happy with that. And accepting, that we have to. That certainly can be a tough one for athlete's to come to terms with; the Athlete's I coach, as well as myself. I usually can do _____ and now I can only do ______. We have to remember in order to do ______ later, we
I Don’t Consider Myself Much of A Technical Rider
However, I have successfully completed all 3 of my 3 attempts in El Paso, at The Puzzler. This is one of my favorite races. It always has been, always will be. It's held in the Franklin Mountains. It's my favorite, why? Because the Franklin Mountains are harsh, unforgiving, relentless. If you're not careful out there, they will eat you alive. Or at least your tires, and your morale. My 1st attempt: I participated in the Puzzler it was 2010. I was living in Texas. I ran gears, and did the full Marathon. It was
2015 ===> 2016
Happy New Year! As with every day, every new year, I wish the best for you always. My last 2 trips scheduled to Texas have been tanked. Storms, and closed trails. C'est la vie. Up in the foothills the week leading into the new year Oh Great Exercise came and spoke to me, "You must go sit on the beach New Years Eve" OK, Deal. Let's see what this adventure brings. I met a friend last Leadville, on Columbine Climb. Who our last trip to LA said, "next time bring your bike". OK, Deal. All I knew is I wanted to ride
San Juan Hut to Hut with Terra Firma Racing
The best way to describe it is Wow; Wow-zapalooza. What is Hut to Hut? It's a 6 night adventure via bicycle through a hut system from Durango to Moab: I committed to the event about a year and a half ago. I committed to schlepping the kitchen through the San Juan Mountains. I love Back Country. Although 6 days would be the longest I have gone. I knew the truck would hold up well, as the guys at the shop said, it's the best shape they have ever seen the make and model of my vehicle.
Collette Haney’s Race Recap: Whiskey 50
hi, wow. I'm still amazed I rode 50 miles. I was shooting for 10 hours, or 8 hours, but 6:35 was a surprise. I stayed at Motel 6 close to the square in Prescott, so it was a 10 minute coast to the start line. The corrals were a self-seed start, so I put myself at the very back, but after a half hour, there were many more (100+ or more?) people behind me, and people passing bikes over the barriers and squeezing in. Guess I'll get used to stuff like
Michael Winegar’s Race Report; Girls Scout Camp, Amarillo, Texas: 1st Place
Where to start? I guess with the fact that I got a did get to pre-ride the course. This is one time that is actually happened. For the most part I do not get a chance to pre-ride, and that is a bad idea when the course changes every 2 weeks. I decided to to run the same gear that I have ridden all season, but after seeing that the start was to be uphill I thought it might have been a bad idea to not switch to a bigger cog in the back. I was

What Would you Rather Have a Nice Butt
Or nice nails? Seriously. If I were given an hour to a) Exercise b) Get My Nails Done I would have to go with a. every time. And from a health perspective; there's a huge chance that if you take care of your health, your nails will be one of the many rewards of good health. When we're healthy, our nails are healthy. I have been a very busy beaver: Yesterday was an Epic Ride. There wasn't any speed involved with it. I have the cold from hell. It's what the little monkey had last week. I haven't had the
