Sometimes the Coach has to keep the Athlete in Check
Yeah,
I wanted to race this weekend:
Saturday was the Sandia Mountain Bike Race.
Sunday was the Cochiti Triathlon.
I would have liked to do both.
I told my friend if I didn’t do that Triathlon, I may be able to pull off the Mountain Bike race.
Thursday Kimmie and I went to Cochiti we swam and then did 1 lap of the bike loop. My average 15 mph, but intensity felt like 20 mph. Then, I was catapolted and took the next day off.
I wanted to do it so bad, but with my eyes on Austin 70.3, as a coach, I realized, it would be better for me to spend my time training, getting some good blocks in, instead of a 2-3 day set back, which could turned into 2 weeks.
It was hard, very hard, not to race.
I did it.
It was worth it too.
I don’t feel like I ran 50 miles anymore.
That is totally amazing!
Yesterday I rode through the canyon for a good 42 miles and about 2500 feet of climbing, I was very tired afterwards.
Today I went for a run. I wanted to go 6 miles. I brought the dogs, and Mojo can’t hang any more. We went 3. A slow 3 with lots of breaks in the shade for water with the dogs.
I felt like I could have flown. Like I could have been set free in the wind. Mojo kept me back. He’s to the age, it’s so sad.
I then, went to UNM and swam a 2500. It was good! I managed a 500 kick, wowsers! Legs are ‘back’.
I also, managed the intensity with a 4 x 50!! My first time with intensity since Leadville.
2 weeks.
Feels good.
Austin, here I come.
