Sometimes in the Face of Adversity

We need to just suck it up and do it!

Like today: 3rd consecutive day of imperfect sleep.

Difficult and somewhat stressful morning getting ready; finally saying, “if you’re not in the car by 7:40 you’ll have to find another way to get to school”

I HAD to take a shower before taking the girls to school.  If I HAVE to take a shower BEFORE a bike ride, you know it’s bad, really bad!

I have been “bleeding spontaneously” from several lesions that I have acquired on my skin

my hair was falling out by the handfuls during my shower; at least 6.  Gotta love Celiac’s Disease!

And Aunt Flo came to visit!

All of this means:

ABSOLUTELY NOTHING

My friend Rose, has cancer.  Stage I breast cancer and she is going in on Thursday to have the tumor removed.

She, in many ways is lucky, she is strong, vibrant and healthy.

They found the tumor early and at this point doesn’t even know if she will have to undergo radiation or chemotherapy.  To me, this is a good sign.

I had scheduled a group ride with her and members of her team.

What I go through, what my struggles are, minscule in relation to the Universe, and to what some people are dealing with.

So I sucked it up and showed up for my friend.

I am with you 100%, to help you in any way that I can.  I will show up for you anyway that you need over however long it takes, whether it’s a week, a  month or a year.

You are a Champion, NM State Mountain Bike Champion, to be exact.

You are a champion of so much more.

That was a great ride, and it was good riding with all the girls again.  It’s been so long, my one friend, hadn’t even seen the new set of wheels.  Ikers.

What I want everyone to remember, is that sometimes in the light of a situation, things seem pretty bad, only if we interpret them that way.  In the same situation in a different light, it will appear to be just another day, with blessings you’re able to share with and for someone else.

When it seems big, huge, maybe even insurmountable, I’m certain that there is someone out there in the world with it worse than you.  Yet they do it, and you can too.

With the human body and the human spirit all things are possible.

Just as with racing, there will always be someone faster than you and slower than you.
