Jaw Saga

I went to big Baylor this morning.  I’ve had two days off since my big run, and I have ants in my pants.  Any more than a day, and I start getting a little restless.

So, my jaw bone is 6 mm off my joint, so what we are planning on doing is making a incision along my ear, the part of cartilage that kind of covers the ear opening, then we’re going to clean up the soft tissue that is forming at the joint, then we’re going to make a sagital cut in the jaw, and along the midline of the lower jaw so that can then slide back into the joint and it will be fastened by screws and a plate.  Only the best titanium, like my new bike…or is it going to be carbon, I can’t decide.

I say ‘we’ that’s because I’ll be there, there will be no ‘we’ in my helping, I’ll just be lying there asleep.  I can’t wait to be constipated for 3 days again.  I will be wired shut for 3 weeks.  Not totally shut, I’ll be able to eat puree.  Which sure the hell beats a straw.

They are going to contact the insurance company for approval and then we will schedule.  I can hardly wait to lie on my back without it slipping into the joint.  I can hardly wait to swim freestyle without it slipping back into the joint.  It’s pretty painful when that happens and the noise it makes when I pull it out gives me the heebie jeebies.

They may have to make an incision in my muscle.  I’m not for that.  I did learn a new rehab exercise based on what Dr Wolford and I discussed.  A isometric with my fingers on the inside of my mouth while pulling my lower jaw backwards.  This will help lengthen that muscle, and may even put my jaw in a better position over all.  Gotta keep that muscle from getting weak, or in the ‘shortened position’.

It sure does help to be smart like me. 😮

I’ll be able to do my run, and I sure as hell going to do my 12 hour race this year.  I don’t care if I suck, it’s my birthday for crying out loud and last year is the first year since I’ve been in Tex-ass I haven’t done it.  And as you can tell, I’m still complaining about it.

We are now are proud owners of property in my favorite place in the world.  I will have to work my behind off at Larry North in order to pay for it, it will be good to have drive, I’m excited to have made the investment.  So you don’t really have to ask where we’re going anymore, it will always be, Nuevo de Mexico.  I’ve been wanting to expand our portfolio for some time.  We got a killer deal on a great place, that has high end, or almost high end, updates.  I mean a killer deal.  I found out today that we didn’t even pay for closing costs.  The ol’ man snuck that one in on me.  I was happy to hear it though, saving us.  Real Estate is a great investment right now.  Interest rates on mortgages are crazy low, I mean crazy, and as long as you have collateral cash to pay for it, if need be, the market is a buyer’s market, pretty much in every state in the nation.

So guess who will be doing some altitude training…I already do altitude training, now I can use it for coaching seminars, or if you need it as a client for a race, I can train you out there.

So enough for now, I have a 4 AM wake up call for a one hour run, in my new 2XU compression tights that I got today.  Look forward to a review.  I tried them on when they came, and they feel REALLY good.  Tomorrow will be a good test because I’m swimming after working at Larry North.   They did make my legs feel ‘energized’ when I tried them on.  It was weird.  I haven’t read any good research on compression, not recovery compression, this other kind.  The theory is good, and some what right.  So I’ll let you know.

I do know, if I like them tomorrow I’ll probably get the calf compression.  Because often times it’s too hot to wear tights.
