I have Dismembered my Kona
It was kinda sad, it was long over due,
that bike won me 3 state Championships and a Leadville 100 Mile Mountain Bike Belt Buckle.
So if anyone wants a 18 inch Kona Hei Hei FS frame, I have one.
I also have some Mavic SLR wheels,
Some Shimano Deore Cranks, but that’s about it.
What I did get was a totally revamped SS. You know my converted 1999 Specialized Stumpjumper Pro. It got a ‘new’ locking fork, a brand new set of wheels with DT swiss hubs, and the best part of it, a pair of carbon cranks.
Loose Lucy is now weighing in at 21 pounds.
That’s what the Scott weighs with race wheels and gears,
it is 1.5 pounds heavier than the Scott converted to SS with race wheels,
and 3.5 pounds lighter than Scott with Training Wheels.
Not that kind cooky….
So as Randy suggested, I took her out for a spin, man, am I weak, I had to get out of the saddle for climbs in the foothills:
Totally LAME!
So here I was, heading back into training:
I went for a run today.
The 1st run since I sprained my foot on Pepe. I felt good.
I actually said,
“I am going to do Austin, even if it takes me 7 hours beause it’s what I love to do,”
Then, it happened,
I tripped.
And yes,
Broke my foot.
The base of my toe, totally severed into 2 pieces.
It hurts, it did hurt, more than child birth. I limped out. I had a couple of people ask if I needed help. I did, but I am too proud, or stupid, to ask for it.
Daniel, whom I just met, rides for High Desert Bicycles and for UNM, asked me if I could use help, I told him I was okay, but to make sure I made it out without going into shock,
Yes, that’s how bad it was/is.
It feels like every step is a razor blade in my foot.
The pain is so great, I feel/felt nauseaus.
I will try to figure out a way to get a picture on the internet.
So all powers to be are against all possibilities of Austin.
I have no idea why,
I will just have to trust,
apparently, the slap on the wrist didn’t work (sprained foot) I got the severed bone in my toe(freight train)
But I am very, very happy because everything has been to my left foot, indescrimintately, today, the right foot, so at least I know it’s not personal to the left.
🙂
Peace Out.
