Today Started Off Like This

April Fool’s.

I knew it was snowing for our buddy Rico, but it made me sad, because his nick name was ‘snow otter’.  He used to burrow under the snow until his face was white with snow.  So cute.

I had a ride schedule 4-5 hours.  I couldn’t decide between riding up the crest on my new Scott Foil 2012 Team Issue OR taking the Mountain Bike out for a spin.

Well, snow, well, 1 hour run.  So I loaded up Mojo and Molly and away we went.  Up to Pino Canyon.

Wow, the snow was deep, I did 1:40-1:50 in there.  But…remember, it should have only taken me an hour.  It was just 100 ups forEVER!!  My legs got so tired I had to walk at times on the return.

There were places where the snow seemed 4-6 inches deep.  I kept thinking how nice it was for it to snow for Rico transition to the fields of heaven.

He knows now he gets to run and play in the snow forever.

I did really miss him today.  I knew he would have ‘perked up’ if only for a second.  Molly really missed him too:  She came home, he could no longer go on long adventures with us, and she went sniffing for him in all of his usual places.  He was not in any of them.  It made her kinda sad, me too.

I did get a new set of wheels, and they are beautiful.  I didn’t end up racing them, but I can’t wait to ride it again.

I put my Mavic Carbone SL’s on there for the race, rode them on Sunday.  Holy Batman that was super stiff, and kinda fast.  My with the wind time was the same as my into the wind time.  That’s impressive.  But it was a little more stiff than I would have preferred.  The new zipp 101’s have a deeper wheel well, and the ride is a lot smoother, and less stiff.  I can’t wait to ride it again.

The new kit design is complete with all of the new sponsors:  2012 Classic/Zoefitness sponsors are: Classic, Zoefitness, Terra Firma Racing, 2XU, Rudy project, Infinit Nutrition, Maxxis, Fastenal, Fit to Win Cycling, Sumy Design, Bicycles Plus Texas, UPS Store 4275, 2012 is off to an exciting year.

These last few months are the busiest for me, locking in sponsors, voler order, specialized bottles orders, contacting potential sponsors.  Getting annual care package for athletes ready, saving boxes, etc.

And training for myself.  Getting ready for 2012.

I have my Bucket List 2012 SS Epic Alpine 12 hour on April 14th.

May 28th I will be swimming Alcatrez for a PR.  54 minutes to beat.  That was my first attempt, 6-8 foot swells and, of course, Joe Oates advice, doing breast stroke and back stroke in the middle of San Fran Bay, taking it all in…all the glory, the beauty, the vastness.

I ordered the new version of the book.  WOW!!  It is so different is co-authored with another crazy ultra swimmer.  I recently learned how to “Feed for an Ultra Swim”.  If you’re in the water longer than you can be without food, then, you’re in the water too long.

🙂

I do have a 5k on my bucket list, probably next spring.  Anything longer than that….You better have your head checked.  Just kidding.  Me, if anybody, understands about pushing your limits and trying new things…as well, as Bucket Lists.

And, well, I came across this picture in Decateur.  Of course, can’t help myself.

Notice the location of this frac job.  And I want to remind everyone, there was a blow out at this well last summer.  This is taken from a Starbuck’s parking lot.  I’m sure glad I wasn’t there for the blow out.

I’m sure there was some person, innocently leaving Walmart wondering why they’re sick all the time.  If we’re not careful, this could be you.

Keep the rubber side down, and enjoy all the beauty life has for you.

P.S. I’m going to test the Ikons in the mud tomorrow.
