Time Keeps on Slipping, Slipping, Slipping…
Into the future.
Why is Texas the state that has 5 of the Top 10 fatest cities in America?
I will tell you my observations:
All cities cited in research are heavily produced, industrial cities. The air quality is awful, and recreational exercise and commuting are deemed dangerous. Through lack of education, and lack of cities to provide sidewalks and recreational lanes for exercisers and commuters.
Big Gas and Oil should fund some of that! Or perhaps, this is part of the reason that in suburb areas there are no connecting sidewalks.
It’s not necessarily the heat, since Texas isn’t one of the hottest states in the country.
The United States of America has an estimated spending of 240 billion dollars in National Healthcare in obesity related disease. Yes, totally preventable.
Now put all that aside and recognize that these 5 cities are tapping into health care increasing the cost beyond the affordable rate of most Americans.
Ironically, Texas is among one of the most heavily supported Tea Party States in the Country. Tea Party and Right Wing Republicans roar, “Less Government”!!
This rhetoric will be the downfall of 5 of the fattest cities in America. What will happen to all the Texans that are overweight and can’t afford healthcare?
This number is increasing everyday.
We are enabling obesity in the United States of America, yet we are encouraging the dissolve of people’s access to health care.
In order to reduce Health Care Costs in America, we need to pay it forward with prevention:
Heavy taxation of the fast food industry
Heavier taxation on the soft drink industry
Heavier taxation on petroleum base hygiene and household cleaning products (this actually needs to be illegal)
Subsidies on Trainers
Heavy taxation on junk food.
Investment in recreation lanes and sidewalks in all communities.
Texas should clean up it’s piss poor politics, and start caring more for the people and less for Big Business.
Texans are burdening the United States Health Care System with the lack of concern for the growing size of the Texan’s Waistline.
Tell me, why should I pay for that?
Fresh Air for Texas!
Sidewalks and Recreation Lanes for Texas!
Education on Nutrition at the community level.
Junk food priced so high, people can’t afford to eat it and then, taking that money, and reinvesting it into the people who need the health care.
Blah, more later. ‘School Fieldtrip” That’s what we are playing today.
Fun, Fun.
