Thanks for Checking in

It’s always good to, or you miss some great information, like today.

1st off I want to remind everyone how important it is getting BCAA’s (branched chain amino acids) in your supplementation during long duration exercise.

I usually get mine from meat.

A lot of attention on L- Carnitine.  Carnitine helps the process of AMP into ATP. as well as help maintain glucose uptake and availability.

The latest research is tending towards the importance of L-Arginine. L-Arginine is a precursor to NO(nitrite oxide)  If this is foreign to you then check back on an old post: The Latest on Beet Root Juice.

I have begun adding L-Arginine to my magic potion, and so far, seems to be a great addition.

It’s good to trust in the Master.

I bought a capsule, which I can easily open and put into my bottles.

Saddle Time vs. Rolling Time

Saddle Time:  The amount of time of entire ride, including all stops.  This is equal to the amount of time your ass can handle in the saddle for a particular task.

Rolling Time:  The amount of time it actually took you to complete the task. or mileage, if you subtract your breaks from it.

Some forms of data collectors will stop when you stop and then, go when you go.

The latest on NSAID’s (non steroidal anti inflammatory) aka: Aleve, Advil, and the like.

NSAID Side Effects that occur with 7-10 days of use:

  • Effects the chloride channels in your body
  • Effects the muscle conductance
  • Messes with Calcium Influx
  • Loss of skeletal muscles
  • Decreases in muscle and strength
  • Confounds the effects of aging
  • Effects Pyruvate and the cellular level with the uncoupling of the energy system and ATP
  • Rounds up oxidative molecules
  • Effects Recovery in a negative way:
  • 1) Decreases Postaglandin
  • 2) Increases Oxidation products
  • 3) Suppresses leukocytes
  • 4) Suppresses Protein Synthesis and Cell Blast

In other words, blocking inflammation may be bad, since it is the bodies way to recover.

An anti-inflammatory inhibits the natural inflammation process; therefore, defeating the restorative process of training stimulus.

There is a time and a place for compression garments as well.  They are to be used as a tool, not a crutch.  And 2XU Compression gear = best tool out there!
