SATURDAY..7/24/2010…Already
A week gone by, already?? Crazy stuff, huh? So here’s the week in a re-cap.
I WANT MORE TIME :o)
Sunday, found a really nice apartment. I think, we’re hoping to make an offer. The new finance reform, disqualifies us or anybody from purchasing it. The area we are looking into is 51% or greater rented. So hopefully, we’re working on some of the details. Left ABQ at 5:00 TX time. So I knew it was going to be tough getting home.
The drive was awesome, we had an overnight in Quanah, only because of the late departure. The drive is easy. Got home Monday early morning and took my oldest little monkey to the DR. She’s been having unexplained nausea for 2.5 weeks. They did a lot of blood work, non of which we have gotten back yet.
Monday night 80 minute run in my Vibrams. Thought I was going to get a blister, but didn’t. It was late, and kind of spooky, I’m not used to being out that late, nor am I used to that trail anymore. And the big reddish furry animal on the side of the trail that was purring, made me pretty nervous. I wanted to quit my run at 10 minutes, and then it was easy.
Tuesday I swam 1000 in a bath tub and then took my little monkey to guitar and swam another 1200 minimally. That was a shock to the old system. I swam my 500 in 8:30. Still a long way off of where I was, but doing good. 7:06 is my PR, but 7:30 is generally where I want to be coming in. So I’m almost back there.
Wednesday, went to Masters.
Thursday, went to trail to ride, forgot my shoes. Ran with Kathy, while she rode the new bamboo section, got cold sweats on my shins, and then walked with Kathy as soon she flatted.
Thursday night rode the couch with a fever.
Friday rode the couch with a fever, actually went to work, and had several appts.
Saturday: took the advice I generally give my athletes:
“When you feel like you’re ready, take another day off” I think, that’s really good advice, usually I have a tough time taking it!
Sunday 4 hour ride schedule at Northshore. EZ end.
On to other stuff. August 2nd I get my teeth fixed. Yeah, temporary bond. I will have to wait a year to get braces.
On the bad note, the orthodontist took some sort of special XRAY, I don’t know what it is called. It takes a picture like an MRI but of bone. And I guess, it would have been helpful, if I would have known earlier that I am missing a half inch of bone in my jaw.
Now this really upsets me and also, makes a very important point to my readers. This is why. I went under to have ‘a plate put in’. Then, there wasn’t anything to attach the plate to so the DR “removed a couple of bone fragments”. Quote/unquote.
Now to me, bone fragments seem to be the size and shape of rice, not a half inch of my jaw. So the part of my jaw that goes into my joint is .5 inches lower than the joint. And that bone was placed near the other part of my jaw and has now healed with it.
This is how I wish it would have all gone down, this is how I THINK it should always go down. The DR takes me out of anesthesia, tells me the situation, there’s no place to put the plate, tells me he takes out half of an inch of bone shows me a picture and lets me decides what my next option is going to be. My next option WOULD have been to not to continue with the surgery, look into a bone graph, or having coral put into my jaw. This way, my bone would be in my joint, and I would only have to heal once to the discomfort of a broken jaw, a jaw being wired shut, and I would have some stability in joint. But what happens next should be my decision. I definitely would have looked into having a bone graph before it healed.
So what I have been saying is, that it’s not a big deal, based on what the DR told me. What I found out on Thursday is, it’s a REALLY big deal. So I’m not too happy about that. And ironically I have been in a lot of pain since then. Hmm. I was wondering why I was still having a lot of pain at the end of the week.
GAS…Pew, what’s that smell…
Ride home from ABQ; Vernon got THE headache. By the time I got to Wichita Falls, the metallic taste was in my mouth. Monday, no headache, Tuesday headache, and metallic taste along Shiloh Rd, in between Flower Mound and Bartonville, and even around the house Fracing back at Holts. That’s gone again. Anytime I drive by the 4 drills in Flower Mound to Bartonville on Shiloh/McMakin, headache and metallic taste. Williams is keeping the Centralized Collection Facility at Jeter and Frenchtown. They are making my country road a 4 lane highway to support the traffic. Williams is a corrupt company full of lies and deceit. Mostly concerned about $$$ and not the little boy who’s bedroom window is 100 feet off this site, which is going to grow and have a lot of compressors in. I sent a very nasty email to Kelly Swan with Williams. I feel all that pain for sure. The drill pad site is almost ready a block away from my house, Red Oak. This is another area of unincorporated Denton County. So if it’s bad with the drills 2 miles from me can you imagine how this canary is going to feel one block away?!?
Still trying to get ready for NS 100. Duly unmotivated, going through the motions, only because of the broken jaw. I want to be better and on to the next thing.
Business is good, and I love all of it!
