I had so Many Plans this Week
I was planning on hiking up the mountain, Pino Canyon Trail
I was planning on riding South 14
I was planning on riding Water Canyon to the Lightening Observatory in Socorro.
I, however, was NOT planning on sitting in Ken’s recliner for 3 days all jacked up on hydrocodone because that stoopid rock got in the way and I did finally decide to break my foot.
It hurts, it’s a clean break, through the bone.
Not only are potato chips my favorite post race recovery food, it’s also my favorite hydrocodone condiment.
This week has been a total wash, I even had an Emergency Room trip today. Why? Well, because my discharge papers said, if my foot got cold then, I should go in. Well, it was really cold, and it wouldn’t warm up for hours, so in I went. Apparently, the blood flow to my big toe and my little toe are good, as well as the rest of my body.
That, my friends, is a complete epic fail of our Medical System.
Healthy People.
Our current medical system really is not adapted for healthy people, at all.
They have to turn off the HR monitors, take blood pressures more than once, they can’t find veins to get blood samples, they think 110 over 60 is good for Blood Pressure, when for me, it’s a little high.
And the MD, she was great, she made sure she squeezed my foot REALLY, REALLY hard to check for coldness. Thanks for stealing away any healing I had in there from the last week, man, did that hurt.
And the nurse, she was great too. She made sure to read me all of the ‘broken foot’ directions, that I got last week when I was Dx with a broken foot. And then, made sure I was going to ice and and elevate my already cold foot.
I said something like,
“Don’t I want to make sure that I get more blood flow into the area, since I am here for a cold foot”
And how if my foot gets cold I should come into the ER immediately.
uh-um, isn’t that the whole reason I am in the ER right now, because my foot is cold, and won’t get warm?!?
So, then, what defines a cold foot, and how do I then decide to come back.
I have an idea, it’s all about living a life to best avoid going to the DR. They can never tell you definitively what it is anyways, only what it’s not.
And I have to constantly remind myself and others, there’s a reason why it’s called
A Practice.
So today, I went the whole day with a cold foot, just one. And apparently I am OK.
It was cold until we went to Petroglyph National Monument. Then, it got really, really warm.
But don’t worry, it’s really, really cold again. Just that one.
Maybe I will go for a run, so it warms up.
Just Kidding.
So remember when I tell you;
When God gives you the slap on the wrist, LISTEN.
Because,
If you don’t.
He will bring, The FREIGHT TRAIN.
Love you Guys, thanks for checking in.
