You’re supposed to have an EZ year. 2017 was apparently my ” scheduled” EZ year. I haven’t had an EZ year since 2010. Yeah I broke my foot in 2013. I didn’t make it EZ year, I bit off Leadville Race Across the Sky 100 Mile Mountain Bike Race, for the 4th time. I’m not going to get my panties in a wad, or get upset that this has been my worst year in my racing history. There are only a few things in life we can control. It’s important to be accepting, and

Time to See How the Pen Flows
7.25.2017 There's been a lot on my mind. A lot of subjects I have wanted to write about: The Forgotten Workout, Finding the time as a Parent, Zia Rides 24 hours of Enchanted Forest, A New Outlook; Supporters, and the Upcoming Race, Breckenridge 68. So let's just see what happens as I allow my fingers move across the keyboard. The Forgotten Workout: Ugh. Strength. Yes. Me. I know it's hard to believe. I more frequently do "my straightening out ex's" than I actually do strength. At age 30 for women, and 40 for men, it's

4.26.2017 Hump Day Wow. Just wow. Life is Good. My fitness is finally where I want it to be. Where I have wanted it for as long as I can remember, and especially since breaking my toe, at the base of my foot so many ions ago. The base of the pyramid is strong, solid, and now I am able to move forward with the other aspects of my training. What does this level of fitness look like? 9-13 Mile Run 6 -12 Hour Mountain Bike 3000 to 3500 Yard Swim You are certainly safe to
Power without Pain
Hi. Been awhile. I've had a lot to say. Been busy. Busy with Partnerships, Training, Single Mothering of Two Teenage Daughters, and getting Zoefitness Gear ordered. And recovering. I'm finally starting to feel human again. I've been on Mom-Cation, went on a Mom-venture, and have been overjoyed to be on a Mom-stay-cation. A couple of weeks ago I finally gave into the power of Amoxicillin. I had been fighting a sinus infection for months, and an ear infection, my best guess, is since last fall. It finally got the better of me,

The Rules
Rule #1: Have Fun. Sometimes Rule #1 evolves. It's important to have the flexibility and the mindset to be accepting of whatever Rule#1 transforms itself into. Sometimes Rule#1 is: Don't blow up your leg. And then, recognizing we have the power to be happy with that. And accepting, that we have to. That certainly can be a tough one for athlete's to come to terms with; the Athlete's I coach, as well as myself. I usually can do _____ and now I can only do ______. We have to remember in order to do ______ later, we
Winter: To Train or De-train?
That is the question. It's very common for endurance athletes to take time off after a big event or when their season comes to a close. In the last few years there has been a shift. What we know is that after about 3 days mitochondria number begins to decrease. What we know is that after a hard event it is good to rest, and recover to avoid injury. We definitely want to avoid burn out because then, all bets are off. So what are the options? Taking time off, gaining weight, and coming into 2017
Overcoming Barriers
Life is about overcoming barriers. Racing is like life. It teaches us how to overcome barriers. These tools, are easily transferable to real life. Anything is possible, and we are able to overcome anything. It's a mindset. Yesterday I competed in the 2nd Annual New Mexico Toughman Half Ironman. What an adventure that was. Only my 2nd Half Ironman. Last one was in 2009. Last year I participated in the Aquabike. I haven't run 13 Miles since before my 50 miler back in 2012. Thanks for breaking my toe, in a location, that is difficult to heal! I did
