I won my fist race yesterday, 25 tongue depressors vertically in my mouth. I am really happy about my performance. Some days were harder than others. You know how it is, you want to get to the finish line. I wanted to shove all 25 tongue depressors in my mouth at one time. I started 10 days ago with 5. One tongue depressor at a time, or two or three.
I’m involved with another race; that is the race to secure our property values and to ensure the quality of air in my neighborhood. Williams is attempting to put in a fracking pipeline, storage tanks(with mystery fluids), and an air compressor.
My neighborhood cycling friends can help. If you smell gas while you’re out riding, please take note and call:

We love riding, we don’t love riding through areas that smell. One of my favorite hill climbs, there are two gas wells on it. It is upstream of my water supply, Bartonville, and when I was driving the smell was so bad I had to close my windows, put my air on recycle. I had a headache for 6 hours and when I woke up in the morning I had a small amount of clotted blood in my nasal mucous.
My neighbors up the road, the EPA lady found benzene in their neighborhood pond.
We need more voice. I am pleading with you to help in any way that you can. Remember in school, the bullies, the ones that took your lunch money, or cut you down so they could feel better about themselves. The gas companies, the Railroad Commission are bullies. And our neighborhood governing bodies are the bullies. They are attempting to pull the wool over our eyes and get this stuff done.
Here is an alarming fact. I called the Railroad Commission about the 3 pipelines that are going in. Here what his response was.
“What pipelines? I wasn’t aware of any pipelines that were going in.” I will have to look into it.”
And these are the guys who are supposed to be protecting us. I have news for us, it is US, we are supposed to protect ourselves. Nobody is going to do it for us. And we do have a voice, we can make it change. Nobody but us.
Workouts have been good, I totally love my new Mizouno Universe Wave 3’s. I’m still slow as molasses, walk jogging, but out non the less. And it felt so good. I swam a 1300 on Thursday, that was awesome. Wednesday, I was full force on the Gas thing. Today I may swim when I take my monkey to practice. And my other little monkey has a soccer game. Busy. Why did my little monkey have to play soccer, it was so easy when I just took them to the same place at the same time. :o) I know some of you just rolled your eyes thinking, you just now have to take your monkeys two different places…I know, I have been spoiled.
Life is good, my recovery is one day at a time getting stuff done. I began looking at races in a couple of months. I am honored one of my sponsors, training partners, and friends just asked me to write her crash program for Xterra in Waco. Wow, it looks good. She’ll probably win, maybe even the whole thing. Be ready Melanie McQuaid. :o)
