2013 ZoeFitness 3-Day Mountain Bike Altitude Training Camp

Albuquerque/Santa Fe National Forest, New Mexico

July 12th- July 14 th 2013

This camp is designed specifically to help you analyze and improve your performance on the Mountain Bike at Altitude.  This particular camp is periodized with  Leadville 100 Race Across the Sky Mountain Bike Race.  I will help you, through 1st hand examples, how to tap into your best performance at altitude starting with Day I, Friday, riding at a moderate altitude.

In the afternoon, I will be presenting information  that will give you  helpful hints to best combat the side effects of altitude: signs and symptoms of altitude sickness, hydration and nutrition tricks, that have been proven and are recommended by the scientific community.  I hope to present the latest research on Altitude Training and Racing  in a useful and practical fashion so that you can take home with you the most practical applications available.

The second day, Saturday,  we will journey to “New Mexico’s Highest Elevation State Park” at 8500 feet.  At which point, we will climb to one of the highest peaks in New Mexico,  above 12,000 feet.

The Third day, Sunday we will be riding King of the Mountain at  Sandia Ski Area.  The “A” Group will have the honors of riding the single track that leads up to Ski Hill highlighting some of the New Mexico Endurance Series Event; Watermelon Beatdown.

I recognize that we  may all  respond differently to altitude, as well as, be at different stages in our training so I will have 2 guided groups each day.  There will be an “A” Group, that will ride 3-4 hours at a faster pace, riding more trail, and more technical trail.  I will also be providing a “B” Group which will ride 2-3 hours each day, covering less total distance, with less technical aspects each ride.

I will provide light snacks after rides, as well as some light snacks during the talk portion of these events.  Infinit Nutrition will be providing samples for each participant and Zoefitness will be providing  water bottles for participation.

So whether you’re training specifically for a high altitude race this summer, looking to learn how your body adapts to riding at higher elevations, or just want to check out some new trail; this is the event for you!

The host hotel: Hilton Homewood Suites Uptown, is centrally located, each room has a kitchenette, and is walking distance to Trader Joe’s,  Starbuck’s, shopping, restaurants and a movie theater.

Please note: this is a USA Cycling Sanctioned Event, so a USA Cycling Annual License or a Day Pass License is required.  The fee does not include a 5.00 per car charge at the National Forest on Saturday.  New Mexico, during this time of year, is subject to Monsoon patterns.  If the timing of these events need to be switched to an 8 am start or an afternoon start to correspond to the current monsoon patterns, your personal safety is my top priority

**Helmets must be worn at all times on the bike
