2013 ZoeFitness 2-Day Mountain Bike Altitude Training Camp
2013 ZoeFitness 2-Day Mountain Bike Altitude Training Camp
Albuquerque/Santa Fe National Forest, New Mexico
June 15th– June 16th 2013
This camp is designed specifically to help you analyze and improve your performance on the Mountain Bike at Altitude. This particular camp is periodized with Leadville Silver Rush and Breckenridge 100 and 100k. I will help you, through 1st hand examples, how to tap into your best performance at altitude starting with Day I; riding at a moderate altitude.
In the afternoon, I will be presenting information that will give you helpful hints to best combat the side effects of altitude: signs and symptoms of altitude sickness, hydration and nutrition tricks, that have been proven and are recommended by the scientific community. I hope to present the latest research on Altitude Training and Racing in a useful and practical fashion so that you can take home with you the most practical applications available.
The second day we will journey to “New Mexico’s Highest Elevation State Park” at 8500 feet. At which point, we will climb to one of the highest peaks in New Mexico, above 12,000 feet.
I recognize that we may all respond differently to altitude, as well as, be at different stages in our training so I will have 2 guided groups each day. There will be an “A” Group, that will ride 3-4 hours at a faster pace, riding more trail, and more technical trail. I will also be providing a “B” Group which will ride 2-3 hours each day, covering less total distance, with less technical aspects of both rides.
I will provide light snacks after rides, as well as some light snacks during the talk portion of these events. Infinit Nutrition will be providing samples for each participant and Zoefitness will be providing water bottles for participation.
So whether you’re training specifically for a high altitude race this summer, looking to learn how your body adapts to riding at higher elevations, or just want to check out some new trail; this is the event for you!
The Monday proceeding the 2 day clinic we will have an “unofficial” run day. At this point, it is safe to say, we will be hiking Pino Canyon from 6500 to just over 10,000 feet in roughly 4 miles, this is geared towards those brave enough to tackle the Silver Queen or Silver King of the Leadville Race Series. The location of this run, may be subject to change location to Crest Trail, at 10,600 feet.
The host hotel: Hilton Homewood Suites Uptown, is centrally located, each room has a kitchenette, and is walking distance to Trader Joe’s, Starbuck’s, shopping, restaurants and a movie theater.
